Heard yesterday that a MSY-LGA wanted to divert to ABE but couldnt because we just dont have anyone that's jetway qualified and the ccy thieves theft our airstairs for mco. I wonder how many stations are in a position like ours!? All of the folks that were jetway qualified have left either to PHL, retired or furloughed. Though most did take the furlough. Its ashame to have to turn a jet away but the thieves of ccy got what they wanted! Hopefully one day that seigal the thief will be on a flight that gets diverted elsewhere.

There are prefered and non-prefered diversion stations throughout the system. It is prefered that we divert a mainline flight to a mainline station if possible, but if there was an issue of safety, security or medical needs, the aircraft would be diverted to the closest suitable airport regardless of prefered status. If the needs of the aircraft could not be met with the equipment that we have, we always have the option to borrow from other airlines or use the FBO. Where there is a will there is a way. This has always been our practice for mainline.

MarkMyWords: We are already using the stairs for the Mesa RJ which is the only CLT flight we have. We could use the jetway had the company properly sent the required jetway training and the towbar but we cant get either one of them and we are using Continental's airstairs for the folks to get on and off. I know for a fact our inside agents have tried to get the required paperwork and training stuff but the company refuses to send it because we're mainline express. So unfortunately the company got what they deserved.

Well this is a first....

Cle is mainline express-diversions go there....No jetways either.....
what's the deal with ABE?

Golden: The problem in ABE is that our inside agents are all new hires for the most part but the reality is is that the company will not send the training stuff to get our new agents trained properly for handling the jetway. and also the ones who do have experience still have yet to be recertified sort of to speak. That is the problem. we could go the route of having a NWA agent bring the jet way up to a diverted jet but the problem there is "who would be to blame if it hit the plane?
That is the type of problems we're facing.

Another misnomer from the 'I can't think out of the box at CCY'..

Idiots....all of them...
