From the APFA hotline

There was a lot of media attention surrounding Gerard Arpeys
statements this week that all Departments within AA will realize
more layoffs. AA continues to reiterate to APFA that no flight
attendants will be involved in this furlough due to our attrition
rate. APFA is told that the only cuts that will be occurring within
Flight Service will be in Management.

Lets hope this remains true.

"Cuts" was the term, I believe. It's all in the wording. Flight Service could have "cuts" in the number of people needed but attrition could (and I think it will) take care of it.

It also helps to remember they're calling it a 5% reduction in domestic service, without mentioning how the additional international flights affect the overall numbers. I'd like to see just how 2005 will compare with 2004 as far as actual number of seats in the sky.

Thankfully we have not had the "seasonal" furloughs like everyone was predicting. Let's home attrition keeps up to mitigate things.
