Anyone have any more insider information other than........ some of the board and the execs at Express Jet (XJT) are in DAL meeting with WN leaders? Several people at XJT are saying that they want WN to code share with them from SAT, AUS and ELP to Mexico using their 50-70 seat jets. (no HOU due to lack of customs.) XJT will also be opening a base in SAT if this agreement is reached. Interesting even if their is no legitimacy.

Fact. The talks with mananagment at both airlines have been on going this week in DAL. Never say never...can we say SFO (Again)! haha! XJT takes on the burden and $$$ to do all southwest just flows people over. kinda like ATA without the millions of dollars....btw how is the codeshare with ATA and any more in the future? Sill think that SWA should do international code share with Ryanair.

X Jet could fly out of DAL beyond the perimeter to Tucson, San Diego and other cities being only a 50 seater?

I remember Gary Kelly stating at this last message to the field (BWI) that we have and "exclusive" deal with ATA regarding codesharing out of the country for a certain amount of years.

Anybody else hear this?

Gary said the same at the Dallas Message to the Field.

well, the same hurdle exists for any international service with WN/codeshare whether it be Xjet or ATA and that is the WN res system (this has been well documented). That being the case, I would argue that DAL-Mexico point via a codeshare with XJet is off base. On top of that is the fact the restrictions on DAL service and the limited nonstop options from AUS and SAT to the rest of the WN system would sort of minimize the true benefit of such a coseshare to those markets.

Having said that, I would put much more chance on Xjet codesharing with WN from DAL to 'outside perimeter' domestic markets (less than, say, 1000 miles?) on the XRJ-145s.

WN markets less than 1000 miles from DAL outside perimeter:

MDW
CLE (1019 miles)
CMH
DEN
DTW
RSW (1019 mles)
JAX
IND
LAS (1056 miles)
SDF
BNA
OMA
MCO
PHX
PIT (1069 miles)
RDU (1063 miles)
SLC
TPA
TUS

IF (big if) WN would enter into this codeshare, they could do some serious connecting of some serious dots from DAL...

I agree that DAL-Mexico is off base for the mere fact of no customs/immigration! haha! BUT SAT, AUS, and ELP are not that far off. FLL/MCO/PBI would be great too for hops to the Bahamas. They could run hourly service to CUN from SAT almost like a shuttle. Margartia Express. ;) all free margartia's/and beer and nacho chips on every flight everyday!

Great point about the perimeter issue.

Doesn't CO have 2 gates and DAL? if so would those be an option for XJT to use or lease back from CO to directly compete with AA/AE and WN?

The DAL is Delta airlines, not Love Field. XJet is code sharing with Delta AIrlines.
