Would like to ask if someone could tell me what is the procedure to fly n/r after retiring. I have a new retiree ID card (no photo) and my wife has a card also . Must we both pre book for a flight and do we both have to go to the ticket counter first to obtain tickets?. 34 years of looking at the travel manual. Never gave it a thought of checking it about retirement before I retired. Now that I can''t have access to pacer etc. its confusing to do anything from the outside. Thank-you anybody for your help .

You will still be able to use the employee travel nonrev 800 number to list and check flights. As of last month you do not have to have paper tickets to fly, but will need something to get through security. Either a itinary card from the ticket counter, city ticket office or kiosks or paper ticket/electronic boarding pass.
Listing first always helps, but if you get to the airport early the ticket counter may also be able to take care to that.
One other bit of advice, make sure you have at least one upgrade per person. As they are good for 3 years think of it as refundable insurance. Many gates can not or will not write upgrades up at the last minute.
Finally, if you just retired your companion passes are good till the end of the year. Starting next year you will be zeroed out of your allotment.
Hope this helps.
