I just noticed that us has added addtitional flights . I used June 15th for the date.
PHL-SEA 1ADD 3 TOTAL
PHL-SFO 1 ADD 4 TOTAL
PHL-SAN 2 ADD 4 TOTAL
PHL-DEN 1 ADD 3 TOTAL
PHL-MSY 1 ADD 2 TOTAL

Glad to see MSY service creeping back and the rest.

Also just noticed a 5th flight in each direction between PHL and LAS starts on March 2nd. So that is 5 daily flights in each direction for USeast in addition to USwest. Nice to see more lift between hubs as well.

US ran 5 flights prior to the merger, I believe the 5th flight at 8pm replaces the HP-West flight which isn't no more.

The return, do they need 2 red eyes back from LAS or is that in demand. I know I avoid that flight so I don't know how they perform.

The 5 flights effective March 2 are in addition to the original HP flights 430 to LAS and 431 from LAS back to PHL. I take the redeyes all the time and they are for the most part full, full, full. Definately a rarity to have a vegas flight that isn't. It does happen from time to time but VERY rare. It is showing the USwest flights in up the 25th of april. I didn't check beyond that.

LAS redeyes to the East coast are always very full. Very iffy non-rev opportunities. You always have to have a back up.

OK. It's just me then. I haven't been on a red-eye for the last 11 years so I couldn't say. I travel to LAS about 4-5 times a year and I schedule myself departing LAS after lunch getting in PHL around 9pm. I can't sleep on a plane so I try to stay at the hotel as late as I can.

I am going to have to look around on the hub for info related to the company bringing back more 757's to the west coast routes. It was mentioned somewhere but I'm not sure where. Anyone remember hearing this. Barbell, do you have any clue by chance?

Oh, that should get more biz travelers to fly US to the West Coast.

I thought you would like that US1YFARE.... "Upgrade anyone"? That plane definately does need more f/c. I don't understand how we can "possibly" put 11 f/c seats on the future E-190's yet 8 on the 757. Leisure market or not. This WAS the old managements idea though. Maybe some time down the road they will add a few back.

You are right, that was the old management's thought. This one will add seats, but they will be in Y. From what I hear, the HP 757's are sardine cans.

With 8 FC seats, it's almost impossible to buy a FC seat just before departure.

HP has 14/176 on the 757 (190), US has 8/185 (193). I guess it depends on the actual configuration, galleys, closets, lav spots. I really dont see that much of a variation between the two though.
I do agree that they need more than 8 seats. Even with 14 on the HP flights, they are almost always full in advance. Take out the closets on the US planes and you could easily get at least 2 more seats up there and 1 row of coach could get you 6 total =14.

I guess if we had a choice, i'd rather see one more row of FC seats and no closet. That closet when you sit in row 1 is good though. Otherwise, it just feels weird with no closet there. And where are they going to hang coats? On the wall behind row 3? In the winter isn't that going to be tough?

I dont' think any of HP's planes have closets in the front so that they can squeeze in more seats.

US Airways
Boeing 757-200

Seat Capacity Pitch Width
First 8 38.0" 20.2"
Coach 185 31.0" to 32.0" 17.1"

America West
First Class: 36.0" pitch 20.5" width 14 seats
Coach Class: 30-32.0" pitch 17.2" width 176 seats

On the Airbus, they hang coats on the back bulkhead for First Class (opposite side wall of coach bulkhead.) I dont see many coats hanging there on most days. Of course the flight is headed to PHX and LAS, not BOS or BDL. I havent really spent a lot of time checking out the 757 we get each day so I dont know where they put them on there.
