New A/C Reg. numbers

I was trying to figure how many jumpseats a Boeing had and saber has not been updated with the new registration numbers
Do you mean how many j/s in the flight deck or in the cabin? If it's a 737 I think it depends on if it came from Piedmont or if it was delivered to USAir.

Cockpit,. it is a on going task if the flight is full and you have a lot of NRSA you use to be able to look it up in saber with the tail number PI A/C had 2 jumpseats AL had 1 I even think AL change some of the new delivers of the 737 to have 1

Here's an interesting thought. I am wondering why it would be necessary to re register the aircraft in question, when they could just change the fleet numbers-there is no required correlation between a fleet number and a reg number, and it seems like an unnecessary expense/effort.

THEN I just remembered that many NW aircraft have registrations ending in US....does it make one think?

How's that for a conspiracy theory?

Just kidding, but it is interesting.
The about US two weeks ago shows them renumbering a US 737-400, and the article says that current technology does not accomodate a 4 digit number.

can somebody copy/paste that list in a message?
Thanks
Here's the affected aircraft from the fleet list in the ALPA transition agreement:

Jim, thanks for posting the list. I am still very confused about the AY designation, UW is fine, US is better, even UU seems better than AY ????

Who said anything about a 4 digit number being necessary?
It is'nt necessary, but an option. Use a 4 digit fleet number like DL, UA, NW use. The registration is simply that, the registration. The fleet number is used internally.

Doug has stated before the software was not capable of using four numbers, I wonder what would be cheaper, buying new software or upgrading it or reregistering the fleet?

Obviously, it is less expensive to re-number aircraft since that's what is happening. 23 HP tails and 70 US tails will be changed.

I realize this is an old thread but just noticed today A-330 ship 673 has become ship 273 N273AY. Personally don't care for the AY thing, it is Finnair's two letter code.

Cheers

I started this thread, and the original question was what was "AY". Now I finally get the answer: the Finnair identifier....

So, how do the fleets match up? Merger with Finnair.. you heard it here first...

Uh...I already suggested that back on the first page of the thread! :D ;) And HEL is actually a very nice airport.

Lets add more to it, NW has plenty of jets with the "US" designator in their registration!
