Net Loss Of $90 Million For Third Quarter

with all of the money STOLEN from us the employees, it sure is amazing to see that this outfit STILL CAN'T make a penny. I wonder when and if there will be any further paycuts before dave crook and ccy thieves will say they are leaving this airline for good?

This group of LIARS and THIEVES could not turn a profit if the employee's worked for free. Read into their words....they are coming back to the employee groups for MORE!!!!!!

Just wanted to add on to the Topic Heading a bit...
The third quarter 2003 pretax loss of $91 million compares to a pretax loss of $373 million for the third quarter of 2002, which is a $282 million improvement.

bold was added for emphasis.

What really worried me is the following: "For the quarter, US Airways Inc.'s mainline operations carried 10.6 million passengers, a decline of 11.8 percent compared to the same period of 2002."

Is this due to loss of aircraft, poor advertising, or service?

..they are coming back to the employee groups for MORE!!!!!!

Possible with this statement: "Although our performance for the quarter is disappointing, we are encouraged by the fact that unit revenue is improving while at the same time our unit costs continue to decline," said Neal S. Cohen, US Airways executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer. "We must remain focused on effectively controlling our costs and preserving liquidity."

Not a single penny more  !!!

Everyone is starting to turn profits except US???? Why the heck not????

Figures don't lie but LIARS figure.......this is where our problems begin.

E-TRONS OUT.

This is due to all the flying that is being transferred to Mesa and Chautauqua.

Small Jets or no Small Jets, at least if it's all done within Group then the revenue and profits stay within Group, to the benefit of all US Airways employees. If not, it only benefits the bottom feeder operations that are piggybacking on the name of US Airways to grow themselves.

No more Outsourcing and Contracting. It's time to take ALL the flying back, whether its a 19-seater or a 400-seater.

Despite what labor friendly Dave says, US Airways is NOT a FRANCHISE.

This is not his, Orenstein's and Wexford Group's airline, it's OURS.

Let's take it back!

Two points.

1. "our plan must continue to evolve and adapt"

translation.....we will continue to try and make end runs around all
union contracts.

2. 20 mil. loss due to summer storms...blah...blah

translation.....we failed to properly adjust our business plan.

To quote several airline analysts "airlines normaly plan for a certain amount
of disputions due to weather."

If out financial mba s did not plan for these normal summer events then they should change their pinstripes and include some seethrough bars because not
planning for these items is criminal.
But then again they probably haven t done an honest days work in the field
at any airline.

I forget which analyst it was but one reall hammered Siegel on how US Airways could shrink and remain the dominant East Coast airline at the same time. I hate to agree with a Wolfism but you really can't shrink an airline to profitabilty.

Looks like the "shrinkage" may continue:
"Our goal is to be profitable, and these results are simply not acceptable," Siegel said. "Clearly, we need to take out additional costs." As quoted in an article by Reuters.

This scares the hell out if me. If this company shrinks ANY more, it may as well just close the doors. 🙁

will we ever see a real marketing department like what CO has? The one that actually wants to expand and open new markets? Also will there be any advertising? I know we had some tv commericals with the B-757 to the carribbean back in march and april of this year.

To be fair, I did see a commercial for a USAIRWAYS CREDIT CARD yesterday. What a bunch of moronic losers.

does usairways get paid for the ads being shown on tv or in the papers each time it is shown or known or how does it work?

To be fair, they probably make money from the DM credit card affinity deal with BoA. Selling miles, many of which go unclaimed, and most of which are capacity controlled to the hilt (unlike the VFF, I know people who just won't spend more than 25k on a domestic award ticket, under any circumstances).

Ads for the actual service sold by US might be a better idea, methinks.
