Not very surprisingly, US/HP's suspenion of MIA-PHX did not last long. And the plan to discontinue Pittsburgh service, which went Saturday-only for the summer and was supposed to be discontinued for the winter, didn't pan out either. Daily service on both Miami-Phoenix and Miami-Pittsburgh resumes 3 January 2007:

US 1163 PHX 1600-2159 MIA 319 Daily
US 1163 MIA 0715-1010 PHX 319 Daily

US 1695 PIT 0845-1133 MIA 733 Daily
US 1698 MIA 1225-1504 PIT 733 Daily
 
What!!! Putting a flight back in PIT instead of adding it to PHL??? What will the "Stick a fork in it - PIT's done" crowd do????

Interesting to note that the PHX-MIA flight will be flown on US-East metal. Hopefully, this is not just a seasonal route.

I wouldn't expect the west to be getting anything anytime soon.
 
Word is that MIA is going to be taking over the FLL mini hub. Were movinginto the new terminal in March with our own Customs for the Star Allience. We also leased a hanger and computers were installed last month so the new sevice will add to it.

That rumor's been floating around for at least a year...as I understand it, US Airways is only taking 3 gates in this new terminal, so that's hardly enough for a focus city operation. I would expect the MIA schedule to increase somewhat, but not dramatically.

MAH..., do you know why Aeromexico decided to not start MEX-PHL afterall?
 
It may not be a mini-hub...but with three gates, you can still have a pretty good presence. Something like - BOS, DCA, LGA, PIT, CLT, PHL, LAS, PHX w/ the possibility of some short-hop express flying to serve the *A partners (MCO? EYW? TPA?).
