They are not cutting back any CSS’s. They are laying off senior CSA’a and not touching the CSS’s. What’s up with this? CSS’s are nothing more than lead CSA’s on the floor. Maybe the unfortunate 22 from LGA can land a position with JetBlue? After all they are expediting thier new service between JFK and LAS.

I'm sure there an gonna be those that say that LAS service is a low yield market...but heres the difference Low Yield beats No Yield when your in difficult times. This would also be a nice way of trying to re-introduce ourselves to the western half of the US travel market by making a bigger footprint there.

Maybe I'm wrong?....Let's just continue to watch Shrinking to Profitability work it's magic.

you are exactly right...my station went from 39 flts before sep 11 to 17 currently..approx 35% employee cut..furloughs down to 1983...i believe we have 29 ft left..still have the same 11 sups ...3 of which are junior to almost every ft on furlough..it also took till last week to cut any managers. we has 3 before sep 11 and had 3 till last week..cust serv manager got a station managers job...oh well

Rmember, that if ANY FURLOUGHED employee wanted, they could have bumped out a JR CSS or LEAD agent. That's the contract. Most employees don't want to take a CSS or Leads position, just as the case in my station. The FT agent with 21yrs opted for the furlough instead of taking the Leads job from a Lead with only 19years.
 
Wow, I did not know that you didn't have that in your contract. Yes I am ramp, and a union member just like the CSS function. Since your are both union members, union senority should prevail and if the same, it comes down to company senority. It just doesn't seem right a junior employee stays while a senior employee is furloughed.
 
not quite. you are either ramp or maintenance.our wonderful negotiation(CWA)team left that out,,union did not want to press that issue. when questioned the response was that css could perform agt functions..they are part of the group..there is no ratio thus lcl management seems to be able to protect css jobs..some rumors have stations with as many css as agents..must be nice to have own personal css. just another way us protects management positions no matter how small..keeping the higher payroll and cutting the least expensive labor...IF YOU KEEP CUTTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TREE, PRETTY SOON THERE IS NOTHING TO HOLD UP THE TOP

You are damn right it isn't fair. but because of the iam, I am furloughed while there are junior people to me still working in my station. I know that there must be a law somewhere in the labor laws that addresses this situation, but I have yet to find it. I will not stop fighting this injustice until it is corrected. I have addessed the iam on this several times, but they blow it off each time. The iam blames the company, the company blames the iam. But I know for a fact that it is the iam, because they have junior people on their boards that would be furloughed if this injustice is corrected. One day I will see to it that we all get our right seniority. On that day it will be the start of a better USAir!
 
not as long as they are senior to any ft or pt. agts..they can bump us we cant touch them...dont feel bad i have 19 years and chose to take furlough rather then pt...had to use all 2002 vacation early also..then got docked for it out of furlough pay.
 
But if the Bump down, now they would no longer have Super-Senority and would be furloughed. Correct? Rouge I hear you. Heard it was the IAM that did not want 2-Round vacation bidding for the ramp. Looking at 2003, in our station we have 2 weeks available for each each of the year. Having only 3 employees below me (only have 21years),I should be able to get January or February vacations in 2003, what incentive.
