Keep hearing a meger or buyout rumor...anyone else been hearing them? I know you guys in the cockpit have heard them, its you thats spreading them, lol.

lets just for shiites and giggles say WN hostile takeover of US. Then WN takes and piecemeals the operations. WN retains BOS,LGA, DCA(maybe), PHL, CLT, HNL. Sells off the PHX and LAS overlap. Keeps the International and moves the international to PIT let ATA operate it (by contract they would have to till a certain year 2014?) (a great airport/ no eastcoast delays and all of the facilities are ready to go) and makes it a true LCC to Europe and the Caribbean via PIT , CLT, and MCO. Enters Star Alliance and then Codeshares with Lufthansa. Or better yet doesn't enter or keep the international and starts a codeshare with Ryanair to BWI, BOS, and MCO. Digest the Regional carriers except for PSA and Piedmont and keep the ever coveted Shuttle intact. Yeah yeah, they have a lot of Airbus- so what..convert the orders to Boeing and when the aircraft start to need retired replace with Boeing... the model needs a'changin' away. BAM you have an immediate terminal and passenger base in LGA and CLT. with consolidation the entrance into the NYC's and MSP's are going to get harder if not impossible. Also when DL and NW get married, taket gates in MEM and CVG and finally enter into MSP. Im sure there is enough overlap that the DOJ will force them to sell... and who has the money? WN. so in brief, take over US chop it up sell it and take whats left of the NW/DL union.

AA and WN. AA finally gets the DAL-AUS routes, and WN finally gets theh DFW presence.

Now, why would you want to mess up a perfectly good operation like WN by combining it with the overblown, bureaucratic mess that AMR has become.

I bet WN doesn't have a newly-appointed DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. We do. I would guess that if there are problems with the customer's experience, Colleen probably handles it directly. We appoint a Director, form a committee, and have meetings about it.

Besides, we already have 15 flights a day each way between DFW and AUS. Today's flights are all sold out or within 10 seats of being sold out. AND, we have 7 flights a day DAL-AUS on AE. More capacity on that route is not what we need.

no rumor, but I've always sort of liked the idea of a WN/FL get-together!

I agree there. I have always thought those 717s could be useful on those "Texas 2-Step" flights to the happenin' locales such as LBB, AMA, MAF and HRL. In addition it would give Southwest a huge presence in ATL.

I've said a few times that FL would have quite a few things to offer WN as a takeover target. They are huge in ATL and MCO and seem to do well in other cities that they operate like focus cities, for example CAK, and they have flights into DCA/LGA and BOS. DCA slots are limited and that's an asset to be considered given WN's recent moves to try and attract business flyers. They also have gate space in those cities and would give WN an ability to enter the market with a larger number of flights.

Also SY(Sun Country) would be an option but I think they are privately held. They fly some pretty new 737's and would give WN a nice way to enter MSP plus they fly international (Caribb and Mexico). They would connect the dots pretty well with other WN cities.

Who says AA would end up running show? If WN took over AA, it wouldn't need to take on the "overblown, bureaucratic mess".

All of these merger's are getting big press. WN's stock had a decent run up, still needs to go up higher but the speculation is that the true LCC's, WN, B7, FL are going to be the big winner's if/when the legacy's merge. There is no talk of LCC in most of the conversation's except that they are the lonley bridesmaid looking for a dance parnter. Obviously DUI Dougie wants to run an airline, but he's demonstrated a total lack of control in merging the barbell. So, does WN finally get to see America West and UsAir finally put out of their misery and get it pieced meal out?

That is the best thing that could happen to AWA!
