Merger hopes dim

You won't be getting this link from the resident company cheerleader here on the forum.

So you'll get it from me:

"Another senator asked whether the money being spent on the merger could instead be spent on employee pensions."

"A telling moment came when Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., related how many middle-aged flight attendants, most of them her constituents, lost their livelihoods because of the merger between TWA and American Airlines".

Good article. Plenty of money around for the right people but employees aren't part of that group. I'll be glad when this bait and switch is over.

And they will.

That's the difference between a management that values it's most important assets, the employees, and a management like LCC's. One who looks at the employees as liabilities.

But nothing here will change. DP is no more than a money guy. Just like Siegel. At least Lakefield was honest about what he was doing.

Did you ever wonder how the current team would have fared had they been thrown into the abyss that was US Airways when Lakefield toke over?

coulda beens and wanna bes.

When a decision is made to sell, as was made when Wolf came, management goals shift and the sale becomes the overriding mandate, a stance more than one union and employee group has yet to fathom.

Pointing out one "good" guy out of three (or more) morons does not further the discussion.

"If onlys" are for losers.

What is to be done, now?

Employees have tried working "for" management, to the point, IMHO, of idiocy. Perhaps a different tack would advance the company? (the pilot union seems to be looking in the right direction....)

I agree. I applaud their spirit.

Surely, folks can understand that...they've come a long way and they don't want to be "diluted" and only exist by name alone. These folks are by majority, non-union. They have always been the highest paid in the industry without union representation. They are a lion in the industry. They restructured in bankruptcy to right-size their company. Keep in mind, they had $2 billion in cash post 9/11. Once U went into bk followed by United, I believe, DL went through their cash purposely so that they could go into BK and restructure. NW followed the same day, same route.
