Hello,
While being off of flying for a long time I had my certificate renewed. I had a few doctor visits prior to and now I realized that I forgot to list one of the medications that I was on. Again, I had no flight time however now I'm a little concerned. I know you can get your license suspended for failing to list a medication you were on. So what can I do now? How does the FAA investigate your medical records if they choose? Do they randomly do this anyway? Any help or advice would be great!

Chances are the FAA won't look into your medical/medication history unless you're involved in an accident/incident that gets investigated.

Medications come in four "flavors" as far as the FAA is concerned - those allowed withut restriction, those allowed when you're not flying, those allowed after evaluation of potential side effects, and those not allowed. Of course, the medication is only one half of the equation - the medical condition that the medication was taken for affects your ability to get/keep a medical also.

Are you still taking that medication? Was/is the medication approved for use with no restrictions by the FAA? If so you could ask your medical examiner about what to do since use of that medication would have no repercussions of it's own (failing to report might).

If it was/is a medication that carries restrictions that would have prevented you from getting a medical or exercising your medical privileges if it had been revealed, it's a different situation. In that case you might want to do some research before doing anything else - the FAA has comprehensive info on their web site that might answer your question

Thanks! I won't worry about it then. My medication would fall under "not allowed while flying".
