Just curious as to what are the longest routes we fly ERJ's and CRJ's on. I know SOMEONE out there knows. :)

U/East-CRJ: PHL-MCI
ERJ: BOS-IND
By ERJ I take it as 145.
U/West-CR9: PHX-YEG (Edmonton). PHX-MSP AND MEM are pretty close. At least this is my take.

ERJ: BOS-IND
That's not even close.

The BOS-IND flights are on E145 and clock in at 2 hours and 47 minutes, flying 816 miles.

The longest flights we do on ERJs is PHL-IAH on the E170, 3 hours and 43 minutes, flying 1,330 miles.

Yes, i was refering to the 145 since ERJ is the way it is listed in SABRE. The 170 is E70.

The E170 also isn't an "ERJ" in design, comfort and amenities.

The 170 is more like a small mainline aircraft. Full overheads, comfortable seating... UAX even puts a six-seat F cabin in theirs. The 170s and 190s, from all accounts, are very passenger-friendly aircraft that I would be happy to fly medium stages on. More of those, and fewer high-capacity CRJs would be welcomed.

Looking forward to my first MDA E170 flight this weekend, DCA-BTV...

I agree. The E170 is nothing like the CRJ or the ERJ. Much more space, much more comfortable, comparable to a mainline aircraft. If it had a F/C cabin (as it does w/ UAL/UAX), I believe many FFer's would actually prefer the plane to the older 737s in the mainline. The E170 is really not an RJ.

As for long hauls in actual RJs, other carriers are far worse than US. UAL has an ATL-DEN flight w/ a CRJ-700. NWA does flights from mid-sized northeastern markets to MSP with CRJ-200s. AA does non-stops from some northeastern markets to DFW w/ a CRJ-700, as well. This is one area where US actually does a pretty good job by generally not stretching its RJs too far.

Yes it is a RJ just ask Glass and the gang

Yeah AA was flying the CR7 from XNA-LAX. CO flies from IAH-PSP with 145X, UA SAT-SFO. (At least they were!!!) Does anyone remember when DL (Comair) was doing TUL-LAS on CRJ. You'd have to have a major crack pipe for that! LOL

NW recently ran MSP-TUS on a seasonal basis. They still run one out to HLN daily.

As for the ERJ family, didn't AA run DFW-BOI for a while?
I don't think the 145 is as bad as the CRJ!! Now don't get me wrong, anything over 1:30 on either is excessive. I flew the CRJ from PHL-STL a few times, man what a nightmare, me and the other commuters were lining up the Attache and the safety cards along the wall on the floor to keep the air from coming out because it was so cold, I just wanted to smack somebody's face in by the time we arrived.

NW has a CRJ flight MSP - MHT, over two hours. I don't take it, I connect through DTW. I firmly beleive the FFs added to the RJ growth because they stayed loyal to an airline and flew long distences in RJs. I for example flew PHL_STL once, then I found routing on another airline for that trip.

I don't have any real problem with RJs as long as they are used on short flighs. They remind me of when I would cram 10-12 people in my 1961 Olds wagon for a 20 min trip to see the rex sox play at Fenway. It was great fun, but would not travel that way to the Bronx to see the yankees, maybe only 8 people as the car was designed for.

So if you don't want RJs on long flights don't take them and your favorite airline will drop that marginal route.
