Loan No Guarantee Of Success For Airline

US would be fine also w/o the govt..

Look in THEIR own backyard...

ELIMINATE ALL THE VP POSITIONS and do as the LCC's do..
NO LCC HAS 30+ VP's..They want to preach and preach about Jet Blue, WN so on and so forth...Well The white collar boys should FOLLOW BY THEIR EXAMPLE>>

TURN TO PROFITABLITY WITH FIRST ELIMINATING THE FAT AT THE TOP..There is an overabundance...and don't tell me there isnt!!

STOP USING THE EMPLOYEES AS THEIR SCAPEGOAT>>AND OUTSIDERS CANNOT AND WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THIS>>EVER>>>>>

US could have 200 VPs for all I care. Just because you are a VP doesn't mean you make $200K+/year. I've often seen companies reclassify folks with different, better titles as a non-cash means of compensation. Remaining marketable outside your current role and company is worth something, and often a change in title, even if it's only for show, is valuable and makes up for salary and benefit cuts.

Also, US's business is NOT a WN or B6 model. US has significant international ops, alliances, interline baggage capability, affilliate carriers, multiple fleet types, etc. The goal is to simplify the business, but this cannot be done overnight. And, US's business will NEVER be as simple as a WN model ... and it shouldn't be as the two carriers are serving different needs. What US needs to do is come up with a model that works, and I'm hoping this is what management is finally trying to do instead of just cutting costs.

USflyer,

Our VPs at U make over $200,000. Glass is a Senior VP and he is making over $280,000 just to make employees liives hell.

V.P. Glass and his style is a big reason why nothing will be voted for here.

$280K for an SVP is norm in the private sector. If he were making $500K, I'd be up in arms as well.

Does this include private sector concerns that consistently fall in the red, that are no where near a 1000 batting average?

If this is true, and it is at U, then they are awarded for failure while their subordinates are punished at every level.

Actually, yes. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Great society we have going on here, ain't it?
