Just a rumor here before you attack me!

The buzz is that AMR is in exploratory talks with USAIR/DELTA to purchase one shuttle entity. In the even that there is a merger between the two and since they both operate
LGA BOS DCA shuttles, they would have to shed one of them to satisfy congress!

That wouldn't surprise me. AA desperatly wanted to purchase the US Shuttle from the banks and Shuttle, Inc. that owned it when the operating agreement with US ended and US had the option to purchase it outright. AA has a somewhat sizeable operation at LGA.

That "area" is hardly a rumor.

AA has "coveted" the shuttle for a long time.

The problem, this time, is, that IMHO, the US $$ 2nd offer to DL, is going to "come up short" !!

But we'll all find out in 8 more days !!
