Frontier scraps focus city
Airline's nonstop flights from Denver to Dulles also to end in February

By David Kesmodel, Rocky Mountain News
November 20, 2004

Frontier Airlines put the nail in the coffin Friday to its dying Los Angeles focus- city operation, scrapping a 7-month-old strategy that had sputtered from the start.

The Denver-based discount carrier said it would end nonstop service from Los Angeles to Philadelphia and Kansas City, Mo., effective Feb. 23. Those were the last remaining of the four cities it had begun serving last spring from Los Angeles as part of a plan to diversify outside its Denver hub.

40 percent load factors can do that to a route. Hasn't F9 posted losses the past 3 quarters too? Fish, you better switch from your rose-colored lenses back to clear when you view things.

Casual,

Yeah we have had 3 quarters with losses, but NOTHING like UniTED, having LOSS after LOSS since the BK. I put on my clear lens LONG AGO and realized that UAL was a crappy place to work and wasn't what they advertised it to be when I hired on. AGAIN, if anyone asked what it was like working at UAL I'd tell him or her to expect a living HELL! AND that it would be the BOGGEST mistake of their life!

I am sure that there are many routes that UniTED flies that are ALWAYS un-profitable. F9 is just smart enough to realize it and re-trench. I've tried to use the other thread for F9 topics, but since you gloat here, we'll play your silly F'ING games!!!!

There is no comparison to what Frontier is facing compared to UAL HELL, YOUR HELL is only starting! We'll see how you’re gloating after January when you don't have a contract, or your back working for 1980's wages. GOOD LUCK!!!

And 787 I am still waiting for you to come fulfill that promise to kick my A$$. I'll put a pock knock on your head so big a calf can suck on it.

Fish,

Are you so easy to be sucked up by the 'Bait N-Hook' ( No pun intended [ :p ])

How about asking for hard numbers from the 'I Luv TED' team?

Get Real or Get Out!!! :p

B) UT

TECH,

I have asked for hard numbers they don't have any from the TED Team. It's fun busting their balls though!!!

Big news coming. Don't fret the LAX focus city reduction. The focus city was well conceived but poorly executed. Its good that F9 is going another direction. Stay tuned.

What's to fret? It sounds like F9 is just making reasonable business decisions. Something UAL management obviously doesn't know how to do.

Um Fish, there's this thing called 'economy of scale'--meaning in most cases, bigger is better. United simply has more room for error than F9. I'm not gloating here, just presenting numbers and information that has been published by the media. I think the issues that United faces are the same as the issues that all airlines face, costs vs revenues, so there are comparisons to be made here. How are you so certain that contracts will be voided, and I'll be working for 1980 wages? What is your source? I hope it's not the 'rumor mill'--you simply don't know what you're talking about until it unfolds do you? I'm not going to be living in hell as you say. If someone with the IQ that you sport can find 'gainful' employment elsewhere, I'm thinking my chances are pretty good that I'll remain happy. You give me hope during these dark times--thank you!

RAT,

What makes you think that your agreement won't mirror image USAIR? Do you think it is coincidence that UAL waited so long to ask for MORE concessions? They always take the wait and see attitude to EVERYTHING. Remember the negotiations for the seamless contracts drug on till they saw what NWA mechanics got from the AMFA negotiations? NMB said that UniTED was liable to pay us more than what they got which was 35+ an hour. The same old wait and lets see!!!!

Do you really think that UAL will best the USAIR deal? If you do your naive RAT, because in the end they will want the same pay scales that USAIR has been wanting. Now as far as having your contract abrogated, who in their right mind would vote themselves or coworkers out of a job? Who wants to vote on having their holidays cut to pieces? Who would vote to get paid only 70% of their vacation pay that they worked to accrue? Who would vote to have their overtime pay gutted to the hilt? If you want all these things just to work at a crap hole like UniTED then go ahead. But, I think that some of the other groups who have the most to lose won't be interested.

And how do you know what my IQ is RAT? Your childish rants like that are baseless. As a matter of fact my IQ is bright enough to work on any aircraft that has EVER been made. And believe me RAT I have worked on everything from Cessna’s to 777's. So I think my IQ is pretty good to have that kind of knowledge base.

Be prepared, it's tough out here in the pilot world if that is what you do. I hope you have a good college major to fall back on???

Fish, you can't spell, and to be honest, I don't think you really know what you're talking about until the ink is dry-- do you? I know absolute morons who try to work on planes, then rely on others to complete their work for them. You simply don't impress me. You're all about speculation and fear--which means absolutely nothing at this point. You act like you're knowledgeable, but it's an act...period. You don't know anything, which leads me to suspect that your IQ isn't much. You can't communicate, which is something that primates/birds/jellyfish are able to do....you should take a class on how to spell. To be honest, I really don't know what is going to transpire at this point, but I'm going to put myself in the best position that I can. Fish, you're the person acting childish, spreading fear and baseless rumors...not me. I'm glad you represent F9...the more I see of you, the happier I become. Thanks again!

Baseless rumors, I have seen a copy of the mechanics contract it almost completely mirrors the USAIR agreement to their mechanics. Only thing that is different is that UniTED didn't put in it that if you’re recalled from furlough you have to start all over from the bottom of the seniority list and pay scale. Now who would be crazy enough to vote on something as stupid as that?????

We won't go into who is a moron, I've know my share of moron pilots to there RAT. I guess UAL wasn't to impressed with my background and knowledge that the day of the interview they asked me when I could start at LAX. Three other guys I interviewed with had to wait a month before they showed up in LA. And the Technical job I got here at F9 they interviewed over 100 people for over a two-month time frame till they interviewed ME! Then as with UAL they offered me the job the same day of the interview.

Hey if Micro Soft word can't spell that's Bill Gates problem not mine. I do run spell check 90% of the time. You send my spelling to BILL OK!

I'll find a copy of your agreement and compare it to the pilot agreement at USAIR we'll see if I am nothing but rumors and speculation then RAT. FACE IT, NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT YOUR SCREWED!!!!

RAT,

This is just for you to show you how stupid and what a MORON I am with no IQ!!! This is a 1/500-scale replica of the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) that I am giving to my son for X-MAS, who did all three initial cruises on board.

SCRATCH BUILT, this is no fricking kit you get at your model store. It's a hobby of mine that generates extra income and will be what I do when I retire from aviation. SO take a good look, everything you see was scaled and built with my own two hands. Not bad for a guy with no IQ HUH????

Peace RAT!!!!

Fish, the trouble that people have with you is not that you are "right or wrong", it's that you come here seeming to take great joy in the screwing over of people. I can appreciate that you hate United Airlines, but why do you hate the employees so much?

People, it's obvious Fish is still QUITE bitter at his departure from United. If life is SO good for him at F9, than he wouldn't be spending so much time on this board baiting people. He sounds like a guy who simply needs some therapy to move on.

They're There Their is more to too two spelling than then using your you're spell checker!
