The official DOT report for June came out today and had a little good (?) news......
First the good (?) news:
US (combined mainline) ranked #17 of 20 in on time performance among reporting carriers, ahead of not just 2 express carriers but also American. US had a DOT O/T arrival rate of 61.6% vs 68.1% average for all reporting carriers.
US was also #17 of 20 in percentage of flights late at least 70% of the time, this time besting Jetblue and 2 express carriers. 9.8% of US' flights met the "late 70% or more of the time" criteria, while the average for all reporting carriers was 5.6%.
US was #15 of 20 in mishandled baggage reports, besting only 5 express carriers, at 10.59 reports/1000 passengers vs the average of 7.92
Now for the same old news:
Once again, US was dead last - #20 of 20 - in complaints with both more complaints (177) than any other carrier and a higher rate of complaints (3.43/100,000 passengers vs 1.35 average). Problem areas were "flight problems" with nearly half of the complaints (80), followed by "res/ticketing/boarding" and "baggage" (27 and 26 respectively).
