It's Conventional

ARLINGTON (theHub.com) - US Airways and United Airlines have been designated as the official airlines for the 2004 U.S. Democratic National Convention, and will transport the 35,000 delegates, organizers, media and guests flying to Boston for the event, which will take place from July 26-29, 2004.

"US Airways is proud to join with our alliance partner United to provide convenient and efficient air travel for the 2004 Convention," said Chris Chiames, senior vice president of corporate affairs. "With nearly 100 daily flights to Boston, including hourly service from our nation's capital, the US Airways network is well-suited to ensure the most convenient schedule for this important political event."

Rod O'Connor, chief executive officer of the 2004 Democratic National Convention, said "We are focused on planning and producing a convention that will be enjoyable and productive for everyone, and are pleased that US Airways and United Airlines will play an invaluable role in helping to make that happen."

Evidently the Democratic National Convention believes both US & UA will be operating from July 26-29, 2004 and I do too.

By the way, for those naysayers, is the Democratic National Convention award to both US & UA a coincidence too?

Chip

Care to lay a wager on how long it will be before either AA (DFW) or CO (IAH) gets awarded the official airline status of the Republican National Convention ??..

I hope the US/UA thing is nothing more than a positive sign of our codeshare partnership...and nothing more !!

At least they are betting on us still being around...take that as a positive in itself.

AOG:

I believe the airline(s) that provide the lowest rates will be the Republican National Convention winner.

Either US or UA, on their own, would have been terrible choices for BOS. Together, they're tolerable. (Neither have nonstops to some large southern population centers (although competitors do), but UA, at least, can serve transcons well).
