I have an Idea

Could it be possible to get rid of reservations except for a few hundred and use maily internet. Close all of the res offices except the one in Fort Worth. It would save alot of money. But i wonder if it is possible.

I know what we could do. Since we have the technology to operate aircraft without pilots we could save a lot of money flying them by remote control from a garage in Dallas...or we could get rid of the agents at the airports by installing machines to check passengers in, we could also install vending machines just before the passengers board the plane. Better still, we could invest in weather control research... Enough people have lost their jobs. These are not just numbers, they are families trying to live a decent life.

Yes it is possible and has to happen at AA. JetBlue does not have a Res "office". All Res Agents work from home. Nearly 80% of JetBlues res. are done on the internet. The home Res Agents first say that the customer can save $5 each way if they book on the web. The savings are huge.

And JetBlue flies what, 20 places? Not real tough to keep track of. Internet access may be common here in the U.S., but there are a lot of places in the world that it isn''t so common. Oh, yeah, I forgot, jetBlue doesn''t fly internationally. Silly me!

It is possible and probably will happen within the next few years. I suspect DFW and TUS will be the only surviving offices, every other office is currently leasing their buildings. Res is currently Tl'ng about 700-800 reps PER DAY!!! That's the equivalent of one of the smaller offices (RDU, STL, BDL or CVG). One will definitely be gone this year and the others will soon follow.

It wouldn''t surprise me to see another office closed, either, but I wouldn''t expect a switch over to home-based res agents.

We would all love it however, it''s a cost issue. There were home based workers testing in Tus, the company has since cancelled it.
