A fair look into the crystal ball would be to look at how Frontier did against United during their (UAL's) 3 year hiatus in BK. I think Airtran will do fine, but pricing may become even less rational than in the past and profits will be elusive.
Airtran will have to make sure and watch the Dl fares on competing routes. Whether making a profit or not may not be a concern to DL. It may be more important for them to show an increase in revenue. DL may certainly undercut some of Airtan's prices just to see more pax even though they won't be making a profit. Just my thoughts...........
