Here’s a heart-warming story from eastern Peru! Earlier this month, an emergency medical flight needed to depart from the remote town of Contamana at night time.
However, with no lighting on the underdeveloped airstrip, the charter plane was unable to take-off.
Luckily for the pilot, a local radio station was informed about the situation and asked its listeners for assistance.
Within 30 minutes, around 300 taxi drivers from across the town brought their cars, motorbikes and auto-rickshaws to the airstrip, using their headlights to light-up the 800-metre long strip.
