Girl allegedly molested on Delta flight

An 11-year-old Alabama girl flying alone from San Diego to Atlanta says a man slipped into the empty seat beside her and sexually molested her on a crowded Delta jet.

What a horrible thing to happen. Its a scary world out there and I am amazed at parents who will leave kids in vulnerable situations like this, or my other favorite the lap child. I know some people cannot afford it. Its a roll of the dice then. Sometimes its 7 or 11, sometimes its craps.

I had a close encounter with a UM like this. A young girl, about 13, first was open so we sat here there to keep better track of, and a eye on. A really sleazy looking guy from 2 rows up during boarding slide's in to the seat next to her and was leaning in and talking to her. In what can only be described completely inappropriate. It was one of those times you know something is just not right. First we suggested he return to his assigned seat, He didn't want to then he got told point blank to return to his assigned seat. He didn't like that idea but thought better after seeing the look on our faces.

With flights being so full and most domestic flights being staffed at min crew, there isn't the time or the ability for those who make the effort to keep better track of UM's.

No doubt this happens more often, sometimes the kids say nothing, or we just dont hear about it. I give the same briefing to each UM. Location of emergency exits, how and when to use a O2 mask, and seat belt. That is anything happens during the flight that they feel uncomfortable, they should come all the way to the front and see me, or tell one of the FA's in the back of the plane. I am now going to add something about people sitting next to or around them as well. I wonder if what I am saying now is to vague?

That really pissed me off. Normally I am a really peacefull person but man, when I hear about someone abusing a child it gets me going. I cannot believe they can't track this jerk down and find him. I mean for sure she can describe him well enough and even though he moved they can get a list of names and pictures of the men seated near her that fit the age range and narrow down the search. This guy should not be walking around. I'm sure he's done this before and would do it again, probably to someone in his own family like a neice or a neighbor or family friend.

What are you some kind of wind up artist? When or where did they say they didn't want to locate? Very unlikely it was a DAL employee, it would have been easy to recognize and deal with right away. Try to stick to the facts and away from ridiculous innuendo.

This happened in January, If the authorities were interested in finding this sicko they should have done it by now; This happened 9 months ago. I said in my post I don't blame DL and I don't think DL is in charge of finding this nutjob. That should fall on the FBI since this crosses statelines I suppose or the DA/police department of where the child resides.

Like I said, it's a known fact that these types don't do these types of things once. The do them many times to many children in their lives. Each time they leave a psychological scar that is very hard to heal if ever. They need to find this guy and get him off the street before he does something worse.

Sounds like this could have been a transcon flight or very long flight, maybe from ATL to the west coast so the FA couldn't have been watching all the time and I don't blame the airline, My anger is that the Authorities don't have a supect at least being questioned.

They(authorities) have the manifest, they have all the names and photo id's. As to if they can "find" him, that's another story. Maybe they should call Dog the Bounty Hunter. He seems to be very successful.

Corporations do not like this kind of publicity. That is a fact. If it was a possibility of it being a DAL employee, don't you know they would keep the lid on this? You bet they would.

Convicted child molesters/rapists should not be able to travel on public transportation. I bet he had a record.

What proof is there that it even happened? In this sue happy society, I wouldn't doubt the whole thing was made up. Why hang someone before there is a trial? You are blaming people based on what is in the media...chill.

I have not blamed a specific person but I think the rights of the violated should be pursued with full earnest to track down a purported child molester because they are some of the most vile type of person to walk in our society. They are sick sociopaths that should not be allowed to roam free with genitalia intact.

Lawsuit? I am more concerned about this type of person walking free in society. Like I said, if they did this to this girl, Psych profiles agree they have probably done it to others in the past or will again in the future, especially if he feels like he got away with something. Would you want someone like this sitting next to your child, neice, nephew, friends children. I know you wouldn't.

what should a child have to do to prove that it happened? It's been almost 10 months since this happened and nobody seems to have been questioned, much less brought to trial to face their accuser and that's a travesty. Who cares about a lawsuit. Where the justice for the victim?

No one pays attention until there is money involved. Sueing is only one venue in which to get justice. Lots of money needed for counseling.
