Opa-Locka, Florida (June 12, 2003) – Safire Aircraft Company said today that fabrication of the first flying prototype Safire Jet has begun with metal being cut by the company’s fuselage supplier, Metalcraft Technologies, Inc. of Cedar City, UT.
The six-place Safire Jet is leading a new generation of turbofan powered airplanes that will feature unprecedented economies in acquisition and operating costs. Safire Aircraft’s design philosophy has been to incorporate advanced, but proven, technologies to ensure a low risk program and on-time deliveries, at a cost comparable to higher priced piston twins and turboprop aircraft. The aircraft is scheduled to make its first flight next year.
The Safire Jet will carry five passengers and a pilot and will include a private lavatory. It will travel at speeds up to 380 knots (437mph) and at altitudes up to 41,000 feet. It will have a maximum range of 1,300 nautical miles (1,495 statue miles) and will be able to operate at airports with runways as short as 2,500 feet.
Safire Aircraft was founded in 1998 to meet the growing requirement for a new generation of light jets. The Safire Jet, priced at $1.395 million, is scheduled to make its first flight next year, with deliveries beginning in the first half of 2006. The company has orders for more than 700 aircraft valued at almost $1 billion.
>>They also announced a new CFO, Daniel DeFazio. Also Miguel Vasquez was selected as Vice President, Strategic Planning and Special Projects.
