We got an e- line recently from the union saying that select f/a's would be called to be surveyed. I got the call 2 days ago. It was 10 minutes long with many questions regarding pay, reserve system, etc. One question was how much (dollar amount) should I get paid (at my seniority) and how much of an increase over following years.
Did anyone else get a call? By the questioning I was wondering if this a fishing expedition to see if we are truly pizzed off. Many questions were would I do informational pickiting....

I got my call on Wed. It also lasted about 10 minutes with it sounds like the same questions. The one question that caught me by surprise was on Preferential bidding and how important it was for me. Of course I answered EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

What about the question about an International base!

I haven't heard from them yet. I sure hope I do, I've got penty to say. I've always wondered why with today's tech that we don't have polls on the regular basis.

I was called yesterday. I’m sure those called were asked the same questions. My personal items of importance were rates of pay and flexibility of scheduling. I did not opt for preferential bidding as I am content with the current system, including the bid sheet/ AIL and ETB. I am not in favor of an international division or separate base and I believe I am entitled to a minimum of what we were paid before the recent round of concessions $42/ hour. My concerns in any merged contract would include our “snapbackâ€￾ by the year 2012. Without this snapback we have no guarantee that our rates/ expenses and premium pays will return to a minimum of what we are promised by 2012.
I was asked about reserves and said that this should be returned to a seniority based system.
No matter what information is collected I don’t believe the company will negotiate in good faith or in a timely manner. I think this is indicative by the fact that a final contract was never ratified by America West Management and ultimately the negotiations were discontinued so that the negotiating team could focus on a transition agreement. This merger contract will drag out indefinitely probably until we are released from mediation and have to prove our cohesiveness through CHAOS or some other job action. I believe that US –East are not willing to accept anything less than what we have and US- West are not willing to take any cuts in vacation, deadhead, etc. There is no way to incorporate the two airlines without an increase of expenses and this “cost neutralâ€￾ stance will simply not acceptable by the rank and file. In this case the longer the negotiations, the more money the company will save.

Ooh, I hope they call me.

They won't be able to get me off the phone.

I've been called 'opinionated.'

They called me and I was so glad they did  Some of the questions I got I've placed here, most answers were ratings (strongly oppose, somewhat oppose, etc) others there just one word answers.

How important is the reserve system to you?
What things on reserve are important to you?
What is an acceptable length of a contract?
How important is it to reach a tentative agreement? Why?
Do you prefer 100 percent deadhead? 50 percent deadhead? etc,.
What is an acceptable pay raise in percentage for the 1st year contract?
What two issues are most important in a new contract?
During the 2nd year of a contract what is an acceptable percentage increase?
Which is most important rating on a scale of 1-5? Vacation? insurance? FMLA? Disability? (sorry can't remember all of them
How important is PBS (preferential bidding)
Which two issues are most important with Scheduling?

I wish I could remember more of the questions, there were a lot of them and my call lasted almost 20 minutes. 😎

By the way...the west FA's seem to think that the East FA's have different desires in a combined contract. West FA's realy value vacation time, vacation drops, pay rates for the junior FA's, reserve fixes, keeping 100percent deadhead, keeping 35 days vacation at 4.5 cr per day. What is an acceptable pay rate for the top paid on a per hour basis?
