Etihad did not give further details, but in a TV interview Italy's transport minister said Etihad was ready to invest around 600m euros in Alitalia.
Reports say that in return Abu Dhabi based Etihad will receive a 49% stake in Alitalia.
Reuters reports that Alitalia has agreed as many as 2,900 job cuts under the deal and that the Italian government has agreed to back a redundancy scheme for affected staff.

This is a potentially interesting situation.
AK-KL I believe used to own ~25% of Alitalia, but they've reduced their stake to ~7%, so it looks like they have no use for Alitalia.
Etihad code-shares with numerous carriers, and I don't believe they are a member of any of the big 3 alliances (skyteam, *, 1-world).  However, they own ~30% of Air Berlin, a member of 1-world, and now will potentially own Alitalia, a member of skyteam.
So, is it likely that:
a) the status quo is maintained where Etihad happily codeshares with numerous airlines and in addition owns 2 carriers that belong to competing alliances?
b ) AZ leaves skyteam?
c)  AB leaves 1-world?
