Delta Incident - EWR - July 4

I was doing some Independence Day plane spotting today in Newark (EWR) and around 3 pm I noticed a large Delta plane (maybe a 757) surrounded by emergency vehicles. The aircraft soon moved to the terminal, with the emergency vehicles in tow. Anyone know what happened?

Yes Delta's own version of fireworks lol...
FWIU it was the AMS-EWR flight. A 763.
Thrust reverser not working and the brakes overheating/catching fire.
A/C was escorted to the gate by fire trucks.
