I know that COA operates one of the youngest fleet in the industry, but should they buy the new 7E7 from Boeing? I feel that they should seriously look into it. They could replace many of the trans-Atlantic 757 routes with the 7E7.

There will be a time when CO will replace their B757 fleet. The B7E7 could be logical successor since it is very versatile. B757 are going to be thought after Freighters (like the DC10/MD11).

not happening anytime soon. Click Here for the story

Bethune also stated: ""All I have to do is fire everybody every five years" to compete with low-cost carriers. How much longer do you have? Yikes!

Considering CAL just took delivery of their last new 757-300, 7E7's are along time away. Cal has among the best and worst Transatlantic airplanes. The 767 and 777 are among the best airplanes I have ever seen, flying a 757 to Europe is something that should happen. If CAL's only 757 route to Europe was Cleveland-LGW then I would say "ok it's the only way the flight is going to happen". While CAL's 757 are among the nicest, a nice airplane to Europe is vastly different then a "nice " airplane to Florida. I hope CAL does get its 7E7 in 3 years, and its fleet across the pond will be 7E7, 767 and 777's.

I could see the 7E7 coming in as an expansion a/c down the road say 2010/11. For now if there is any big or long distance expansion to be done, UA has 7 777's parked and for sale.
