It's always nice to have options. When they reach the contractual limit of 465, they can revisit the business environment. That will be several years in the future, where the entire socio-geo-politcal-global-economical environment could be completely different (for the better or worst)
If the airline is succeeding financially and has proven that it can operate a profitable business with RJ's and Airbi, then it would be in the best interest of both ALPA and management to renegotiate to allow more RJ's into the clause - especially if it will bring back more furloughs(if there are any left at that point). Of course, if the business enviornment is healthy, it might be an opportunity to bring on more larger jets, too. Like exercising the A330-200 options(or were those firm orders?)
