The airline will continue to seek those labor concessions while in bankruptcy. US Airways chief executive Bruce Lakefield said outside the courtroom that the company is re-evaluating its financial targets, opening the possibility that the airline will seek even greater concessions from workers.

The Associated Press

 Hey, I've got an idea for you Bruce.... see if the Judge will let you set the payscales below the minimum wage.

Bruce can TRY and do anything he wants. Seeking greater concessions than before smacks of punishing employees and I doubt that will play well with anybody . . . . . . . or maybe he wants the company to fail.

i just wonder how they could continue operating the airline if a large number of employees start leaving in large mass exodus if usair stoops to the point of getting the lowest wages possible?

robbedagain, seem's to me that is exactly what usair is hoping for. a mass exodus will then allow them to hire entry level low paid personnel :(

I look at it this way. If they go after steeper cuts it will get the inevitable over with that much sooner, then we can all go on with our lives!!!!
I’m looking forward to my 26 weeks of vacation.

and King Kong would be an improvement over Dr.B....directing this hell hole...and HE IS DIRECTING>>>More of His puppets in the hot seat..

The DEVIL HIMSELF IN DISGUISE>>.

Let him ask USA320 for some cost cuts. He is willing to give up more and serve up his fellow employees in the process. I'm glad I don't have to work with that guy. I would be unhappy and YES I would QUIT! Savy

I believe if anything is forced on the employees...I believe they might as well liquidate...I think the employees are tired of being the whipping boy for mismanagement.....

You are never going to make this airline profitable by running it poorly..... no matter what the employee salary or benefits....

We have seen how Southwest Airlines has higher employee costs....but is a well run airline and makes a profit....

It is funny how many comparisions USAIRWAYS was making between us and Southwest Airlines...(Being in business about the same time...closer in size...and employees than Jet Blue and America West) but now don't want to talk about comparissons to Southwest since they make a profit, but have higher employee costs than USAIRWAYS....The diffrence is they are well run...are efficient...They get quick turn arounds and more efficient use of their personnel cause of the mgt running it....and the "Positive" relationship between the company and the employees....

Plus bonehead comments to the public, to make them "NOT WANT" to buy a future ticket on USAIRWAYS....Sorry Mr Lakefield, I believe the public is not siding with the company over the hard working employees....And from the folks I have talked to feel sorry that we are being treated like this.....especially trying to balme the employees publicly on tv for the airlines failures....The employees didn't give the "Golden parachutes" to Mr Gangwal, Mr Wolf, Mr Siegel, and the other associates who stuffed their briefcases with wads of cash......

I think the company will go Chapter 7 between now and Christmas....

The company "honored" Dave's and Neil's golden parachute clause and I darn well now expect the company to honor mine. Guess I will be able to spend the holidays with family instead of at work.

You keep praying that people lose their jobs? Because you're too scared to quit to pursue these "profitable avenues"? This "too much time" whine is stale and an excuse for people to fail to take care of themselves and their well being. Stop with the excuses golden1, just get off your arse and on with your life.
