Britain plans to send an extra 900 troops and additional helicopters to reinforce its current 3,600-strong military presence in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Des Browne told Parliament on July 10. The deployment will include 320 reconstruction engineers, a commando company, a mobile infantry company and two additional force-protection platoons.
