Boeing To Discontinue 757 Next Year

No printed link, just a report on the news tonight that Boeing announced they would discontinue the 757 line next year. CO changed some 757's to 737's and that was supposedly part of the catalyst for stopping. Also they are currently developing the 7E7 to replace the 757/767 lines.

I like the 757 and will miss it, but this is probably good news for Boeing. The stretch 737NGs can fill most of the duties of the 757 and this is likely a good sign that Boeing is serious about following through with the 7E7. If Boeing had kept the 757 line, it would have sent a signal that they might still back away from the new plane.
