“Spirit AeroSystems notified Boeing that nutplates it installed on some Boeing airplane parts did not conform with applicable specifications.â€￾

“Boeing has determined this is not an immediate safety of flight issue and is working closely with the FAA and the supplier to rectify this situation.“

A protective coating to prevent corrosion has not been applied and affects an unspecified number of 737's, both currently in service and those currently on the production line in Renton.

We are currently working with the FAA and Spirit to determine what needs to be done to address the possibility of non-conforming nutplates on in-service airplanes.

Retrofit of all production airplanes, including 747/767/777, is being factored into the recovery plans following the IAM strike.
