A portion of Terminal A was closed at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Friday night after complaints about a strong odor coming from a women's bathroom. David Magaña, an airport spokesman, said a hazmat team was called to the scene just before 10 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Magaña said paramedics examined 20 people complaining of respiratory problems and stinging eyes. One person was treated at the scene, but no one was hospitalized.
Investigators suspect cleaning solvents mixed by a cleaning crew were poured down a sink, resulting in "an unanticipated chemical reaction of some sort." The hazmat team did not find any lingering chemical hazards, he said. No flights were affected.
