LOL! Yet another BIG BOY forces JetBlue to stop flying another route. First it was Delta in ATL and now UAL in IAD! Face it, JB can't go toe to toe with the BIG BOYS!

I guess that's why American has pulled out of the following markets after jetBlue entry:

JFK-OAK
JFK-LGB
JFK-PHX
JFK-SJC
BOS-SJC

I guess that's why Delta has pulled out of the following markets after jetBlue entry:

JFK-PHX
JFK-SAN
JFK-RSW
JFK-DEN

Don't let the facts get in the way of your argument.

Does UAL still fly from IAD-SMF?
Yes, United still operates one daily IAD-SMF nonstop round trip, and at times that most passengers seem to prefer -- morning departures eastbound and late afternoon departures westbound, rather than JetBlue's redeyes in both directions. In fact, a colleague of mine took United's IAD-SMF flight a few weeks ago and said it was jammed.

Cosmo is right. UAL operates UA 189 departing IAD at 16:20 arriving SMF at 19:08 on an Airbus 319. Loads are heavy.

Cheers,
Z B)

The loads on the flights I have worked on the SMF-IAD route have been about 110-130. That's about a full A319.

Impossible. 110 pax is only 10 more than the 190, and the 319 has to hold way more than that if UAL is paying bar lowering 320 rates to fly it.... 🙄 😛 😉

On the subject Blu's choice to stop the flight, if it was a redeye, then why would they re-deploy the jet to BOS-IAD? I'm thinking it took fares too low to break even to get up to that 110-130.

AA puled out of those markets because they needed aircraft for different routes. All of those routes used the 757 and our International is expanding and they needed those 757's for Manchester, New Castle and South America. At anytime AA can re-deploy aircraft in those markets and crush JetBlue!!

I don't work for Delta, so I can't answer why they did.

Interesting how you quickly have an excuse why AA has abandoned so many routes from JFK in the face of B6 competition - while you instantly assume that pulling one red-eye from IAD marks a crushing defeat at the hands of the "Big Boys."

Perhaps B6 also found better utilization for the aircraft, just like AA. Have you seen the fares B6 is pulling down right now on its NY to Florida routes? They're higher than the "Big Boys" and the planes are full. Must be the cute little TVs...go figure...but it doesn't look like a carrier that's suffering from a crushing defeat.

LMAO!!!!! Now that's funny BOB. Keep up the good work. Oh my side hurts from laughing so hard.

You're still alive??? I thought you just faded away. I guess JB pax still have to put up with your stupidity.

Better get that side checked out. It may have a hole and leak the "blue juice" that has brainwashed you.

just a guess......

one IAD SMF roundtrip about 10hrs or so of flight time
generates 312 seats. for discussion lets say 250 bucks a ticket...thats 78,000 per round trip for 10hrs of aircraft use (ok not counting turn time or winter winds)

6 IAD BOS is 936 seats for same 10hs ( 1.5hrs x 6) now for discussion cut the price in 1/2 or 125.00 that yields 117,000 or 50% more revenue for the same utlization of the plane and charging 1/2 the price of the west coast fare. (in this example).

guessing that it makes more economic sense for use of equipment .

What time of day does the 10 hours occur? A 2 am flight to BOS isn't exactly a revenue king....
