From an email from Corp. Comm:
Early Wednesday morning, a crane will arrive at Headquarters to remove the America West sign from the building’s north side. Letters will be removed piece by piece, starting at approximately 8 a.m. and the removal is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
The sign’s removal will be followed by several days of structural and electrical work, in preparation for the US Airways sign installation. The unveiling of the new sign is scheduled for next week and more details will be sent to employees as soon as they’re solidified. In the meantime, employees looking for a photo opportunity are welcome to capture a bit of history tomorrow morning as the letters come down (being careful to steer clear of cranes and workers, of course).
