any ideas of jetblue expanding to philadelphia international airport
its a great market, except for the fact that southwest is there.

need some competition

There have been some rumors floating that JB is thinking about going into (DTW) Detroit. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I can see about every city of 500,000+ that is east of the Mississippi being a prospect for the next 2 years. just my thoughts.......

New services started today (Jan 19): JFK and Boston to Austin (EMB-190), and Oakland to Ft. Lauderdale (A320).

jetBlue flying into Detroit would certainly be interesting to watch. jetBlue has not really competed head-to-head with Northwest as of yet and Northwest always seems to be extremely aggressive when it comes to protecting their market shares.

My guess is that jetblue will continue to link new stations to both Boston and Kennedy, similar to what they've recently done with AUS-BOS/JFK and RIC-BOS/JFK.

New market possibilities from BOS and JFK;

Raleigh/Durham
Nashville
Indianapolis
Jacksonville, FL
San Antonio

I think now that Flyi has shutdown, look for jetBlue to start picking routes that they used to fly, that does not have another LCC,or had great loads.
Now that they have the EMB190 they are able to go into these smaller airports,GSO,GSP,PWM,RDU,JAX,CAE and others.
Also with the demise of Flyi, IAD could become a "focus" city, the loads from BOS to IAD were great for Flyi, and I have already seen alot of the people who always used DH, are now using B6, so why not try to take advantage of the big hole left by Flyi at IAD.

I don't see it happening. Not unless they want to turn IAD into a E-190 mini-hub... which doesn't seem to be consistent with their plan to service the thinner nonstop routes with the new aircraft.

They already saw flyi drop the ball with an IAD RJ hub. B6 isn't dumb enough to make that same mistake.

Orlando-San Juan and Orlando-Aguadilla will be announced soon, starts in May.

FLL-SJU and FLL-BQN are also coming in '06 pending jetBlue gets more gates at FLL, which may become available this summer.

:D :D I'd luv to see JB start BOS-SJU and more carribean out of Boston. Its badly needed, only choice is US or AA and JB product is far superior! PROUD JB FAN!!!!

You may see the agressive expansion come to a screeching halt until the red ink stops flowing. This usually happens when losses start mounting with any Airline. Expanding too fast will catch up with even the best of Airlines. As stated in another post, many of the legacy carriers have cut their costs to the level that they can now compete with B6 and other LCC's. With B6 stating that they are going to raise fares to cover costs, is a big Red Flag that shows there is a problem with cash flow. Since they can't cut costs within the company by beating up the employees, there is no other way to increase their revenue other than raising their fares. At some point there will be very little if any difference between your fares and the competing Majors.

Wings,
As mentioned in another thread...it looks like Neeleman is thinking in exactly the opposite direction -- grow faster, not slower. 8-10 new markets this year seems like a very ambitious number. Not sure if it will actually work, but it sure will be interesting to watch.

That is for sure, it will be Very interesting to see what unfolds here. You can bet that if the losses continue, that he will have to change his game plan in a Hurry......
Or make the imfamous trip to BK court like many others before him have done.

How much cash does B6 have on hand right now?
