Subject: SAVE-A-CONNIE HELP

Sent: Friday, October 09, 2009 10:03 AM

A former TWA L-1011 is coming to Kansas City. It will become the centerpiece of a kids aviation education program. It has been aquired by Save A Connie at the Downtown Airport. It flew for TWA until April of 1997. It has flown only 37 hours since and is stored in Roswell, NM since December of 2006. It has a new interior, upgraded avionics, TCAS, and the hardend cockpit door mod. No buyer was found and a donar has paid for the aircraft for the museum. About $50,000 has been raised to prep the plane for the trip to KCMO. Now weNEED MECHANICS TO HELP get it ready for the flight. The project will be managed by Birdman Aviation. The Lockheed production test crew will fly the plane and we are waiting for the FAA to accept the proposed maintenance and issue the special flight permit. We believe it will take 2 to 3 weeks to prepare. The plane will be kept at the museum. We believe that no L-1011 has ever landed at MKC. The arrival will be a media event and an L-1011 maintenance/ plane crew reunion. I hope you can help and be a part of this history. The current best guess for the work schedule is about the third week of October.

PS: only 250 were produced and only a handful are still flying. To date none has been saved.
