Talk about confused....the title to the article is "American Airlines receives first US-produced A321."

Now, not only do we all know but the article acknowledges (3 paragraphs down) that "On April 25, Airbus delivered an A321 to New York-based JetBlue Airways, the first aircraft built at the Mobile FAL, which opened in 2015."

Took awhile to figure out that maybe the title should have been American receives ITS first US-produced A321, not THE first implied by the title.

Nice piece of news Jim but do we know where most of the materials for the planes come from? Is the plane basically assembled in the US or is it actually made in the US?

It's a global economy.  No single company builds large aircraft totally from local parts anymore.  Look where pieces of Boeing planes come from.
iece of irony that many of those people aren't getting the dichotomy of that.

Understandable of course since plane manufactures especially want to see their product to other nations. But it would be nice to know a breakdown of where the components come from?

And I love Mustangs but I know many of the parts come from Mexico.

I'm sure it's available somewhere.  Google.

WeAAsles, to tell you the truth, anymore I just assume that most of the parts of anything assembled in the U.S. were manufactured somewhere other than within the United States.  It took a lot of adjustment for me.  I grew up in Birmingham, AL in the 1950's and 1960's when Birmingham was the 2nd largest steel production (and steel manufacturing) city in the U.S.--after Pittsburgh, of course.

I bought my couch and ottoman from Ashley furniture. "Made in USA" North Carolina. It was much more expensive than Room Store but I can absolutely notice the quality. No doubt I can keep this couch for the rest of my life if I want. Very sturdy.

I am not sure what the numbers are now but about ten years ago an Airbus might have had more US made parts than a Boeing, I recalll reading.

BTW I do realize a lot of that was dependent on Engine type. I.E. a GE Engine on an airbus vs a RR on a Boeing. That said its great to have two mfgers assembling in the us.
