Are you reading this US? The outcome will be the same no matter which union is represented. So why not go with the union that offers more?
At least with HP if someone wants to come to Phoenix they have to wait for an opening no matter what their senority is. I hear all you have to do at US is say you want to go to a different station and if you hold more senority then you bump the lowest person out of that station. That is fair? Nice union.
Dont get paid for sick days? Need to be sick 5 days to get half pay? Nice union.
Pay cut right off the bat? Nice union.
Teamsters would never sell out their people like IAM did. Who would even suggest stupid ideas like that?
Think about the bigger picture. Not just this moment. Your senority is in the same hands no matter what union is picked. Choose the one that protects its people. And is better than the one that you are stuck in til 2010. We are almost done negotiating ours. Way better than yours. Our old one is better than your bankruptcy one.
You old farts will be the first ones that complain about the IAM contract later.
