Sure, why not? Going with local firms seems to be the norm for Alaska.

Contrast that with others who stick with whoever is most convenient to the airline's HDQ...

I don't think they are really "expanding" (i.e. more work/bodies) but building a replacement hangar. 
 
IIRC the current hangar they have has issues fitting the 737NG.

I may have read it as added facility since the article said it was located about a half mile away from existing Alaska buildings.

My understanding is it is a replacement but I could be wrong.
