Al Gore saving the planet again

Aside from poor parenting, and lack of judgment on Gore III’s part, how does this affect the debate on man kinds affect on the planet? His son was out joy riding. BFD! Should we get on W about him being a recovering alcoholic and having daughters who are drinking while under age? How is/was that productive. How either of them raise their kids is none of our business.

So in your minds eye DUI is just 'joy riding'?

How either of them raise their kids is none of our business.

It becomes my business when society is put in harms way pal!

I never read the article. If he was DUI, then put the SOB in jail for a spell, suspend his drivers license for a few years and have him do community service. I never read the articles on Bush's kids either. It had no relevance to anything.

The premise of my argument still stands. How does the actions of a son or daughter have any bearing on the issues?

I read the article and listened to the video, but never heard DUI. Would you be so kind as to point out where he was charged with DUI? From what I read, heard and watched, it wasn't anything worse than our president did in his youth.

This clown has several priors for the same thing unlike your hero W.

Al Gore's son busted for drugs in hybrid car
Wed Jul 4, 2007 6:18PM EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession on Wednesday after he was stopped for speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff's official said.

Al Gore III -- whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming -- was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 100 miles per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff's deputy at about 2:15 a.m.

The deputy smelled marijuana and searched the car, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino. The search turned up a small amount of marijuana, along with prescription drugs including Valium, Xanax, Vicodin, Adderall and Soma. There were no prescriptions found, he said.

Gore was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and booked into the Inmate Reception Center in Santa Ana, about 34 miles south of Los Angeles, on $20,000 bail. Although he quickly identified himself as the son of the former vice president, Amormino said Gore received no special privileges.

Gore made bail and was released at 2 p.m., Amormino said. He will receive notice of a court date within 30 days.

The youngest child and only son of the former vice president, Gore has had previous brushes with the law. He was arrested in 2003 for marijuana possession and in 2002 for suspected drunken-driving.

In 1989, aged six, Gore almost died when he was hit by a car, and required extensive surgery and physical therapy.

A spokesman for the elder Gore said he was traveling and could not immediately be reached for comment. The one-time presidential candidate is one of the organizers of the Live Earth concerts taking place around the world on July 7. The concerts are designed to raise awareness of global warming.

DUI-Driving under the influence

The news this morning just said he was nailed for possession. He was nailed for reckless driving a while back. Why people like this are allowed back on the road is beyond me. As far as I am concerned, you get one shot. If you are nailed for DUI, you don't drive again ... EVER. Driving is not a right, it's a privilege. If you kill someone while under the influence, it should be a capital murder case and you either spend the rest of your life in jail or you get an appointment with a needle.

Until they stop treating this crap with kid gloves, it will keep happening.

When you get past the fact that he could have seriously hurt someone and that he's obviously a troubled young man it is kind of funny. Think about it, he got busted for doing a 100mph in a Prius. Not a Corvette, Mustang, Porsche or a Ferrari; a Prius. If I didn’t know any better it's almost like he did it to spite his dad. After all, how many guys in their early 20's want to be driving an economical four banger? I suspect Al Sr is making him drive the car so he figured "I'll show him".

DUI-Driving under the influence

I'm sure the deputy stopping Bush smelled bourbon, or perhaps noted white particles in his nostrils. Fact of the matter is, Bush most likely did the very same thing in his youth, and he is president. And I still ask you to cite where he was cited for DUI...not what a sheriff smelled. It wasn't in the article.
