The Q400 is looking better all of the time!

If I am not mistaken, high crude costs have preceeded every recession since WWII. High crude is usually the catalyst for an economic downturn. It usually takes 6 months to a year for the economic waves to strike all shores of the economy. It looks like the recession will hit right after the election...no matter who wins. :(

It has now been over 30 years since the first oil shock of the early 70's. Yet this country continues to import oil from what is probably the most unstable regsion in the world. And continues to turn oil into greenhouse gasses.

I wish I could believe that either of our two sorry choices for the White House has the courage and vision to launch an Apollo scale program to reduce fossil fuel dependence and increase energy efficiency.

Well said DCMS. You would think with all the technology our country possesses we could figure out a way to manufacture a fuel that could be manufactured in US factories by US workers and eliminate the need for most of our fossil fuel needs. We can put a man on the moon or send a probe to Mars but we can't do that? I think that's more of a political thing than a technology thing. ExxonMobil and BP Amoco have deep pockets that pay their lobbyists well in DC.
