Aircraft Lease Companies getting Tough

Sounds like this could play in US's (and UA's) favor as they may have learned there lesson from us and DL and NW are still re-negitoting leases. While AA may never file if they ever have to they won't get the same breaks as US and UA. Just my two cents ! And thanks for posting FM2436, interesting article.

You're probably right about the leases already negotiated, but going forward we (and most other legacies) aren't in a position to purchase new planes outright. They'll be either sold to leasing companies and leased or financed with EETC's. At least with the leasing, and possibly with the EETC, the negotiating of terms may be a lot tougher than it's been.

To be totally honest, if I was a small-to-medium sized business owner I would probably choose not to do any business with any large US company on any terms other then cash-and-carry. Bankruptcy has become a business tool.

Business folks scream about consumer bankruptcies to the point of getting it much harder to file a Chapter 7, but turn around and use the same Bankruptcy Code to screw others. In the meantime the folks that get screwed by businesses that use bankruptcy as a tool still need to pay their employees, suppliers, etc.
