AirTran Airways Expands Richmond Market With Nonstop Service to Ft. Myers and Additional Service to Atlanta
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AAI), today announced the airline will expand its nonstop offerings from Richmond International Airport to Florida by adding new nonstop flights to Ft. Myers, Fla. AirTran Airways begins nonstop service between Richmond and Orlando on November 8, 2005 as previously announced. The new daily flights will begin February 15, 2006, and will be served by the airline's popular Boeing 717 aircraft. The airline also announced a fifth daily nonstop flight to Atlanta, effective on November 16, 2005.
"Whenever I'm in Richmond, we get a lot of requests for new destinations. We're excited to be adding new nonstop service to one of the most frequently requested markets from Richmond and will keep working on the other requested routes," said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways' vice president of planning. "The additional flight to Atlanta will complement our existing schedule and provide better coverage throughout the day to meet the traveling needs of our Richmond-area business and leisure customers."
