Well, considering the fact that one day a week or so ago, they had 1 standby for each shift at DFW (not 1 per terminal; 1 per shift) and only 17 ready reserves for the whole day, one would think that this announcement would mean an increase in staffing at DFW.

Jim, you silly wabbit. There you go again using logic when it most certainly does not apply to flight attendant staffing.

Mikey - your posting states it is an article. Where was the article from? Also, do you know what type of plane will be used for these flight. I am trying to calculate how many flight attendants will be needed to accommodate this increase. Thanks.

Clicking on the article shows it to be a press release straight from American Airlines. It's also in the Industry News section of this website, listed as Associated Press.

They intend to increase utilization of the current fleet to fly the new flights. I don't see how it can be anything but good news for both furloughees and those currently working. The article also stated the increase will be about evenly divided between Eagle and AA.

Mark is right. The 35 listed here are the AA mainline, they didn't list the additional eagle flights.

AA's plane of choice, the ever popular Super 80! After all we have quite a few of those suckers hanging around!

Well, if DL was on the fence about what to do with DFW, this will push them off it.

This will also help lower AA's CASM with the increased aircraft utilization! Unless they're cutting the schedule elsewhere.

The article said that "in some cases substitute larger mainline jet aircraft for American Eagle regional jet flights". Does anyone know which flights these are? thanks.
