More Fun to the Sun When American Launches New Flights to Phoenix And Los Angeles From New York

New Flights Begin Jan. 31 From John F. Kennedy International Airport


NEW YORK, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines will offer even more flights to the sun, the coast and around the world from New York, announcing today that the airline will offer two daily nonstop flights from New York's JFK Airport to Phoenix beginning Jan. 31. American will add a 10th daily nonstop flight between JFK and Los Angeles the same day.

"We understand that our customers want lots of choices to lots of destinations around the world," said Tom Gleason, American's regional vice president - Eastern Division. "We are the airline of choice for discerning New Yorkers who want the convenience of American's huge network and schedule."

American's new JFK-Phoenix flights will depart JFK on Boeing 757 aircraft at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., returning to JFK at 12:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.

American's 10th daily JFK-LAX flight will leave JFK at 5 p.m. on a Boeing 767 aircraft offering three-class service to the West Coast.

"American and American Eagle offer more flights to more destinations from New York; operating 84 daily departures from JFK; 130 from LaGuardia and 43 daily flights from Newark," Gleason said.

But that's not all. On Monday, American launched seasonal nonstop service from JFK to San Jose, Costa Rica. This Friday, American begins nonstop flights to Caracas, Venezuela, and on Saturday adds nonstop flights to La Romana in the Dominican Republic as well as to Grand Cayman.

American's nonstop service to Caracas, Venezuela, will operate southbound on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and northbound on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Flights will be flown with a Boeing 757 aircraft with 22 Business- Class and 154 Coach-Class seats.

American's nonstop flights to La Romana in the Dominican Republic and to Grand Cayman will operate on Saturdays only and will be flown using Boeing 757 aircraft.
