Is there any truth to the current rumor with regards to John giving back
6.9 million of the 777 staffing award during the RPA???

I heard a few days ago they wanted to keep the membership in the dark- until after the vote on the 11th. Maybe that is why the sudden need to protect themselves from a possible lawsuit from the membership.

I heard the 6.9 million was to cover what it cost the company until the underfly issue was decided.

Galley Gossip Alert! Danger! Danger!

Even if JW were dumb enough to try this, do you think they company is dumb enough to accept something like this? Aside from the probable illegality of capriciously changing an arbitrator's decision, do you think the company would risk the unbelievably bad PR that would result? The company may be crazy, but they ain't stupid.

Yes, the award was 16.9 million. The 6.9 million was used to cover the "underfly" for 3 months at 2.3 million per month. In otherwords the 6.9 million was used for RPA monies. I wonder what those entitled to the 777 award monies think of that maneuver?

I still would like to see some proof of this. I've never heard any support for this other than "a reliable source told me." And we all know where the neocons "reliable sources" regarding WMDs in Iraq took us.

Yes they are! You know better than to make a blanket statement like that! If they weren't stupid, they never would have bought TWA to begin with! Remember, it's the SAME group of fools in charge, sans Carty, that was there when the TWA mess became an official headache.

Actually WingNaPrayer - Without the purchase of TWA some of you may have been furloughed. TWA was the furlough cushion.

You objected when AA people kept repeating the mantra that TWA would have gone belly up if AA hadn't bought them. Yet, you keep repeating this rumor about the 777 money, but seem unwilling or unable to produce any proof of your statement.

Which 3 months are you talking about? I was flying for the first 2 months of the RPA and underfly was in effect. It remained in effect until the flight attendants VOTED on a replacement for the underfly provision. They were given a choice of giving up one of 3 things in order to reverse the underfly provision. They voted, and the underfly was reversed. So, which 3 months are you talking about?

And, again, where is the proof?

Jim - I called an AA f/a and I asked her about the award. She read a letter to me about the award.

What is confusing to us is that the letter has a paragraph where it talks about a giveback for the months of June, July and August for underflying. She did not realize that with this award that the underflying during those months is funded.

If you know someone getting the award have them read the letter to you.

Some?..........Try thousands that were spared being furloughed because of TWA. We were the sacrificial lambs.

Please, please can we just drop the TWA vs AA fa business? I've been furloughed twice from AA and I have a friend who flew for 3 airlines, one being Eastern. Is she bitter? No. That's life. Airlines come and go. Just pick up the book, Classic American Airlines and go down the content list. National Airlines, Braniff etc.
They went out of business, their employees found other jobs or moved on to other careers.
GET OVER IT. Life is too short and the little people like us dont' need to be bickering back and forth. I flew for AE when they merged with Business Express and I lost bidding seniority since many of them were much older than I was. Am I bitter? No. No need for bad karma, bad blood and all that emotional stress. Now that I'm dumped from AA and stapled to the bottom of AE seniority list, am I bitter? No. It's only fair to current AE flight attendants that furloughees from AA or any other airline coming in, get's to start all over. It's a choice we made and business decisions are out of our hands.

Czerny - I think you need to practice what you preach.....

Once again these posted started with someone bashing buying TWA.

If you can't take it sweetie - don't dish it out. LIVE WITH IT!
