There is a need for flight attendants to fly a humanitarian 10 day trip on a 747SP from LAX to Tel Aviv and Syria. It is for a non profit called Global peace. I tried to recruit some mechanics, with no success. Now, I'm asking for some flight attendants. You must have wide body experience and done a wet ditching. You do NOT have to have 747 experience. Please visit the link for information on this very worthwhile organization.

You will be needed from June 16th for 10 days plus 1 day of training. It is volunteer, but expenses are paid. If you are in the LAX area and are interested, please email me at [email protected] with your phone number, and I will pass your number on to those organizing this. Do NOT contact Global Peace. Just email me and it will be forwarded to the proper people. The only restriction is that you can't be Arab or Jewish (I'd do it in a red hot second, but being Jewish disqualifies me).

Watch this one. Very suspect. Religion and politics?

Oh please! Being a Jew, I know there are places in the world that I am not welcome and not safe. Unfortunately, that's the way things are.

This is a very fine organization. You can do a google search if you want. Those in DFW might have noticed the 747 in the hanger where humanitarian mechanic volunteers were performing a C-check. It had made 2 trips to the tsunami and the clock ran out before the third. Please don't try and smear this group or discourage volunteers without researching first.

"The only restriction is that you can't be Arab or Jewish"

Sad, since achieving Global Peace very much involves those particular two factions.

Best of luck though!

I agree. Maybe someday.

I still find it very hard to believe you can't be Jewish or Arab. Something isn't kosher here. If it were truly an issue, why would they allow flight attendants and pilots who are Jewish and Arab to fly into the middle east for work? I would think it's easier getting into Tel Aviv being Jewish than it is being Christian. Sounds like discrimination to me. They may want to watch themselves here, or they may be unallowed to fly from the states.

FLY:

To answer your question, the flight will be making stops in places like Tel Aviv, Damaskus, Teheran and Tripoli, just to name a few.

Clearing customs in places such as these if you are Jewish can result in long interrogations and will cause delays. Same if you are Arab and disembarking in Tel Aviv. My partner, who happens to be a corn-fed boy from the American midwest, was detained in Tel Aviv a few years ago when he was traveling alone as a tourist.

When I was a flight attendant for a charter airline I once had a trip through Cairo and one of our flight attendants on the crew was Afghani (Arab). She was detained in Cairo for several hours upon our arrival and interrogated. It was a very unpleasant experience for her as well as the entire working crew.

Being that this is a peace mission staffed with volunteers, I would imagine that it would be in their best interest to avoid such situations. Hence, the requirement for non-Arab or non-Jew volunteers.

That's true! :p

No you don't. I just posted on the airline boards that I knew would have flight attendants with wide body experience and water ditching training.
