# 1 UAL F/A Retires.

That would've required sound planning for retirement. So no, some of ours cannot be next.
I usually move up 10-25 people a month due to system wide attrition. For this month I went up a whopping 2. Everytime it starts to flow the company announces a new destination or two or rumor of base opening. Then these grandmas decide they have to stick around a little longeer so they can collect their new Athens grocery bag or see how the slam clicking is over in Brussels or what the view of Zurich is like from their hotel window.......

sky high states: AGEISM!!!!.....Sheesh, have anything to say about gays, blacks or jews too?

Last time I checked, you go to 'work' to provide for yourselves and your family! NO MATTER WHAT AGE.

sky high states: I should of said that to the PILOT I watched in the crew lounge a year or so ago, as I watched him turn RED and BANG IN FISTS on the table when told, the company had DUMPED his pension!

SKYHIGH,

Guess what!? I agree with you  ! The ageism that the seniority based system creates here and at other airlines is unbelievable. Couple that with the fact that for the large part of 25 years, FA seniority movement at US has been stagnant, if not in reverse overdrive.

It is comical to hear people from my seniority constantly say "why don't they just retire!". I then enjoy asking that very same person exactly how much they have invested towards their impending retirement. The blank stares say it all....

As much as I would like them to retire so that I may one day have a line and a life, many simply cannot afford to do so. Their fault, USAir's fault, whatever, thems the facts!

The company didn't dump his pension. His union did!
