What would be the real difference between getting AMFA vs AMP in here now? AMFA has been around and has the funds and experience and AMP has what to offer as far as that goes?
Don't get me wrong, anyone but the TWSCREW will do pretty much, but explain to me why we droppped off the AMFA bandwagon and went to AMP? Is it beecause it's something that the AA /AMT guy's started? Just wondering.

To answer your question AMP was born out of the idea that we should start a union for AA mechanics run by AA mechanics. while both AMP & AMFA have their upsides in comparison to the twu the belief was and is if we could appeal to the AMFA supporters and at the same time gain the backing of those who wanted a independent union we could put together a majority to finally unseat the twu. AMP's constitution is based on the APA's {AA Pilots} a proven winner since 1963 we encourage you and others to sign the cards for AMP so going forward we can establish a democratic union who's only job is to look out for our Craft like the pilots and F/A's.

Thanks fo your interest.

As far as I'm concerned, my God, it can't get any worse.
I mean really....
Yes, we can continue down the same path we have for the last 20+ years.

Are you still a supporter of the TWU?

As for the difference between AMP and AMFA, there is not that much concerning that it is mechanics for mechanics.

We should remain focused on the current issues that we are going to be dealing with.

Besides, everyone knows it is "Tulsa Fault" anyway so why bother blaming the TWU?

And that AMP/AMFA card got you? Yep, nothing. The TWU card you carried kept you employed. Of course you could have shown how tough you were by handing in the card and renouncing your membership by stopping payment of dues. It's all about principle brother and yours go which ever way the wind blows.

From what I saw, AMFA became a dead issue because of the loss of jobs, pension, retiree medical, outsourcing, more flexible work rules, paycuts, loss of sick time, loss of some holidays, etc. that were existing shortly before they were certified at UAL, or through the bankruptcy process at UAL when they were the union. In addition, their refusal to give up 50% of the jobs at NWA led to the strike and more fear at AA. Remeber, all that was wrong in the world became AMFA's fault.

Compared that to the present fiasco, where we are taking more than 50% job loss since 2003, including the soon to be lost jobs, and the loss of pension, retiree medical, outsourcing, more flexible work rules, paycuts, loss of sick time, loss of some holidays, etc. Now we are second to last and soon to be last in compensation packages with all the equivalent cuts suffered elsewhere, but at least fleet service remained in the high end of their wage comparisons.

I cannot answer your question. ;)

AMFA made a lot of mistakes but make no mistake...NWA was hell bent on busting that union and that is a fact.. I personally believe that this merger was under consideration WAY before it ever happened and AMFA was not to be a part in it. After we bent NW over on AMFA's very first contract NW was determined to never let that happen again. Right after we won that contract that brought ALL mechanics wages up in this industry the work began to bring AMFA down. The spent 2 years and millions of dollars recruiting scabs as well as the NMB and the FAA in NW's pocket as well. All along slowly farming out work and AMFA in their arrogance allowed it with Del Femine too busy trying to recruit UAL and others airlines to join AMFA to see what NWA was doing and still AMFA called NW's bluff and almost welcomed the strike thinking that the airline could never pull it off instead of the CHAOS strategy that the F/A's employ which AMFA said they embrace. Del Femine went along with a traditional strike big mistake. In my opinion if AMFA had let us go back to work it would have forced NW to lock us out since they had all those scabs on the payroll and allowed most all members to collect unemployment and might have kept some of the weaker members from crossing the line. But lets be clear the NMB gave us an immediate release (when has that EVER happened?) The FAA turned a blind eye to problems during the strike and the media was also paid off to not say anything..Never would have believed it if I hadn't witnessed it myself.

that's the truth! hell, we can't even get a release after how many years in talks with aa? i've lost count how long it's been. imo, twu, aa, and the nmb have been in bed with each other through all of this. the twu allowed this to happen. lets hope that enough cards are signed and we can vote the twscrew out!
